core values

The following value statements represent the core of all that we are and do at Church of the Harvest.  People who are part of the community will:

Know that Jesus Christ is Savior.  (John 3:14-15; Acts 4:12)

Eternal salvation of the human soul is possible only through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Through faith in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we find God's grace to receive the gift of eternal salvation.

Experience the Lordship of Christ in their daily lives. (II Corinthians 5:15; John 15:1-17)

Christian perfection is commanded by Jesus and is made possible when we respond to God's grace by personally accepting Jesus Christ as Lord.

Use Scripture as the basis and final authority for living a Christian life. (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:19-21; John 10:34-36)

The Bible is the special and divine revelation of God's plan and truth for all people.  It is the basis for all Christian teaching and we, as believers, need to be obedient to all that the Bible teaches in matters of ministry and life.

See that worship is foundational to who we are and everything we do as a church. (John 4:24; I Chronicles 16:29; Deuteronomy 6:13)

Worship is about cultivating an on-going deep and intimate relationship with God through Christ.  It is more than just attending celebration services at COTH.  It is aobut understanding who we are as God's people and who God is in His fullness.

Lead a disciplined Christian life as fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 5:3-12 "The Beatitudes"; Matthew 16:24; Luke 14:26-27, 33)

The practice of the corporate and private disciplines of the faith as passed on to us by the saints past and present is essential for believers at COTH.  Spiritual growth and maturity (as evident by the Fruit of the Spirit, Galatians 5:22-23, and ascension on the Ladder of Faith, II Peter 1:5-7) will come by grace when we as individual believers and as a body of believers deepen and broaden the practices of the disciplines of the faith and yield to the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

See the need to be fully equipped for God's service. (I Peter 5:2)

In the course of leadership development, teaching and preaching, Church of the Harvest will assist, lead and cooperate fully with the Holy Spirit to fully equip all believers in whatever knowledge, skills and resources the people require to enable and empower them to be in God's service.  It is important in the life of the church that each believer, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, use his/her gift(s) to build up the Body of Christ in whatever capacity God has willed.

Know that believers are a bridge between God and a lost world. (II Corinthians 5:16-21)

As Christ's ambassadors, we have been given the ministyr of reconciliation so that we can be witnesses to the work of Christ for those who are seeking God's hope, peace and love.
